From Janet this afternoon: Mom (Ann) is now in hospice and resting comfortably.
From Jack today: Ann is to go to Hospice House as soon as a bed becomes available, likely this week. Janet has taken a leave of absence from her teaching. Ann is only drinking Joya milk; she cannot tolerate Boost and the like. She sleeps most of the day. My prayer is that she goes Home peacefully soon, which is her request now. Many thanks for your continued prayers and concern.
From Jack this morning: Ann is cared for by Janet at night (with Terry as back up), while she continues to teach at her school opposite us on Montgomery Street. We have good staff during the day for 6 days a week, 4 hours a day. I have the unpleasant job of reducing our charitable donations to help pay for them.  Ann sleeps a lot, is weak and does not eat much. She is visited by some who give her encouraging spiritual input, for which she is grateful. She enjoys seeing Jennifer and her two children (Ann’s and my great grandchildren). However, it has been a long, painful road Ann has travelled, and she is worn down and discouraged. She has said that she wants to go “home”. I do my best to remind her that she is an adopted daughter of God, who promises to be with her and me and to welcome her in His Kingdom. I do this by reading the passage in our daily bread study guide and discussing the questions posed together. I then sing some of the hymns from the old Church of Canada blue book...
From Jack today: We need help caring for Ann Passmore when Janet returns to teaching in late August. This would involve about 20 hours a week, at $15/hour, between 10 am and 5 pm Monday to Friday, the exact times to be negotiated.  The location is at 715 Montgomery St, Fredericton, N.B  E3B 2X7.  Ann is continent but frail and requires help moving from the bed to the wheelchair, walker, toilet, commode, etc.  She needs joyful, but gentle, encouragement, support, and plenty of TLC.  Please send a short CV that includes references, past experiences and qualities that relate to the job, to Naomi Phillips at  receptionist@bsbc.nb.ca

From Jack this morning: Ann was discharged from Palliative care and is now home with support from the Extramural program. She is very pleased to be home, has a hospital bed, wheelchair, etc. She enjoys looking at the garden, and for the first time in a long while was outside in the fresh air and in the sun. Janet and family are mostly looking after her, and my sister, Margaret, is here to help.  However, Ann is in great need; please pray for a dramatic improvement. We are very grateful for much help and support we have been blessed with.
