Hello to my new blogging circle of friends. I have an update: 

I was readmitted to hospital in Fredericton on March 21 following about 15 hours of incontrollable vomiting, probably because of the travel sickness. It had a positive outcome. I was reassessed, a nasogastric tube was inserted I started an enriched feeding program via the tube with added real food. But I couldn't handle the tiny space left by the cancer, the tube, and the food.  I still need to be fed by IV plus the tube. 

I planned to stay in hospital until the treatments start on April 4th.  Life coincided with the plan. The gastroenterologist now wants to remove the gastric tube and insert a stent. This prevents food sticking to the cancer. I will  then take a  few days to adjust  and be transferred by ambulance to Saint John prior to starting treatment. It will be a seamless process of transfer and admission. The doctors in Saint John will plan the rest, working on the diet, blood chemistry, radiation and chemotherapy needs.

An additional component is that of COVID.  We have 4NW and 4SW (where I am) in lock down.  But because I predated the lockdown, then my medical plans can continue. 

I will send an update as things develop.

    I tried to send you a message 5 x yesterday but it didn’t work. So I went to Paul’s for help today and tech-savy Alicia has helped me. She “set me up” so my messages can get” published.”

    I’m so glad your rough trip to and from St. John’s had a final positive result. It’s comforting to know you are getting the care you need to get you in the place you need to be for your upcoming treatments.

    I watched a video of one of the conference sessions held at my church- which I did not attend personally, by Pastor Cymbeline from Brooklyn Tabernacle. He spoke about worry- it was very good. He sang this song at the end- I’m sure you’ll recognize it- which I couldn’t stop singing myself afterwards. I have been singing it as a prayer for you.

    “Peace, peace, wonderful peace,
    Coming down from the Father of love.
    Sweep over my spirit forever, I pray,
    In fathomless billows of love.”

    And along with the love and peace, I pray His strength and healing power sweep over and through you at the same time, Ann, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

 Ann's message this morning: I have had the nasogastric tube in for a day.  For some reason it seems to sit better in the left side of my nose  than the right.  While it was out, there were a series of tests, measurements, etc. out of concern for what the tube would restrict.  Our team of doctors are very competent and efficient.  My one critical comment is that they talk to each other but not to me!  Yesterday I was anemic and had low sodium levels,  Apparently, cancer will bleed even if not provoked.  It also stops bleeding too! I usually write the  post of the day in the dawn.  It is a beautiful time of day, and I find it very positive for me, even if it is raining or snowing, but  always when it is glowing and anticipating a good day to follow.  Enjoy this Palm Sunday.  Thanks for supporting and following with us.  -- Ann, Jack, Janet and David

 Jack submitted the following, Ann's Eulogy as delivered by Roz Thompson at the funeral: Ann was born in Bristol England, in 1942 the 3 rd child – 1 sister and 2 brothers into a family economically and emotionally challenged. Her father came and went, and eventually her mother was left caring for her three children alone, working at Fry’s chocolate factory.   Ann -being quite bright - was the only one in her primary school to win a scholarship at a grammar school. Her mother could only afford a second-hand school uniform for her, but it clearly identified her as going to the grammar school, leading to some harassment by the neighbourhood children. Nevertheless, she did well, encouraged by her teachers, and fascinated by the new worlds she was learning about. Even then church was important to her, and she was nurtured by members of Saint Barnabas Church where she learned about the love and mercy of God.   From Jack today: We need help caring for Ann Passmore when Janet returns to teaching in late August. This would involve about 20 hours a week, at $15/hour, between 10 am and 5 pm Monday to Friday, the exact times to be negotiated.  The location is at 715 Montgomery St, Fredericton, N.B  E3B 2X7.  Ann is continent but frail and requires help moving from the bed to the wheelchair, walker, toilet, commode, etc.  She needs joyful, but gentle, encouragement, support, and plenty of TLC.  Please send a short CV that includes references, past experiences and qualities that relate to the job, to Naomi Phillips at  receptionist@bsbc.nb.ca
